You keep buying answers to questions they invented for you.
That’s the game.
Gurus don’t solve problems – they manufacture them, then sell the cure.
And the cure?
Well, it’s designed to keep you confused just enough that you come back for the next one.
Here’s how it works
They create a problem you didn’t know you had.
Then they sell you a framework, a system, a blueprint. You buy it. You consume it… and you feel like you’re making progress because you’re learning.
And that’s cool and all, but most of the time you’re not really building anything.
You’re renting space in your head to someone who profits every time you feel lost.
And here’s the thing…
Most of them are really good at this. Like REALLY good.
The content is polished. The messaging is tight. The results look real.
But the business model isn’t built around getting you to the finish line.
It’s built around keeping you in the middle
Because if you actually figured it out? You’d stop buying.
Let me show you the filter I use.
When I teach online entrepreneurs/creators, I ask myself one simple question…
“At what point should they be able to do this without me?”
That’s it.
That’s how I operate.
Might be boring. Might not make me as much money as the gurus who keep you dependent. But it’s real and drives me to create great solutions.
And you can flip that question on anyone you’re learning from.
Ask yourself: “Is this person trying to keep me…or keep me stuck?”
If the answer ain’t clear, you already know.
Here’s what it looks like when someone’s actually trying to help you
They give you the thing that solves the problem.
Once.
Then they move you forward.
❌ They don’t create 126 versions of the same offer with slightly different packaging.
❌ They don’t invent new problems every month to sell you new solutions.
✅ They teach you how to get the outcome.
❌ Not how to keep buying.
The guru model works differently tho
The guru makes money when you stay confused. When you think the next course will be “the one.” When you mistake consumption for progress.
They’re not measuring success by whether you’re getting the outcomes.
They’re measuring it by whether you bought something.
And look, I’m not saying all of them are bad people. Some genuinely believe they’re helping.
But the business model is designed to profit from creating dependency.
You stay stuck. They stay rich.
Now I have no idea where you’re at in all of this.
Maybe you’re making a little chedda. Maybe you’re trying a bunch of different things and getting a little annoyed bc nothing’s really working.
And every time you see a new offer, a new framework, a new “breakthrough system,” part of you thinks maybe this is the one that finally clicks.
❌ It’s not.
Because the problem isn’t that you don’t have enough information. The problem is you’re stuck in a loop where buying feels like progress.
❌ It’s not.
✅ Building little by little is progress.
✅ Finishing what you already started is progress.
✅ Committing to one thing long enough to actually see results is progress.
Buying another course is just… buying another course.
When you realize this, you stop looking for the next thing and you start finishing what you already have.
And bc of that, you feel more confident in who you learn from because you can spot the bullshit before it costs you money.
And you save yourself a lot of wasted time and money because you’re no longer funding someone else’s business model that depends on…well, keeping you dependent.
When it’s working, you’ll notice something simple
❌ You stop buying every little thing you see.
✅ You start building instead.
✅ You trust yourself more.
✅ You trust your decisions more.
And when you DO invest in learning something, you choose folks who want you to outgrow THEM, not people who need you to stay confused.
So use that filter on everyone.
Including me.
Ask yourself: “Is this person trying to level me up or keep me on the tit?”
If the answer ain’t obvious, walk away.
So just do this.
1️⃣ Pick one thing.
2️⃣ Build it.
3️⃣ Hit the first milestone.
4️⃣ Then focus on the next.
That’s how you actually make it online, esp with digital products.
