If Attention’s So Rare, Why Do Your Ads Pretend It’s Not?

Short ads work. Long ads waste money. That’s it.
attention rare why ads pretend not v11

If attention’s the scarcest resource, why do so many fkn ads act like it’s unlimited?

People are tired of reading long ass sales pitches packed with mind tricks. And if you’re running those on a small budget? You’re bleeding money with every impression.

Here’s what actually works.

Lemme show you

“If your Meta ads take longer than 10 minutes to launch, you need this framework… Get it for $5”
“I’ve journaled every day for 7 years. The only prompt that actually changed my life takes exactly 60 seconds to answer. Get it now for $27 [link]”
“I tracked every millionaire’s morning routine looking for patterns. The only consistent habit wasn’t what anyone expected. Get the entire routine for $27 [link]”
“Forget the public speaking anxiety. Broadway actor (me) shows how to eliminate nervousness without practice. Get my workshop here for $40 [link]”
“The strongest guys at my gym never do traditional cardio. I’ve compiled a 4-minute protocol that burns fat for 37 hours afterward, want to check it out? $27 [link]”

That’s it.

❌ No 800-word story about the hero’s journey.

❌ No fake scarcity countdowns.

❌ No “imagine waking up on a beach” bs.

It’s literally just: here’s what it is, here’s what it costs, here’s the link.

Simple.

Instead, this is what ppl do

When selling digital products, they write these ridiculously longgggggg ads that are pretty much books.

Lemme show you…

long ad example 81972

They think more copy equals more persuasion, so they load up their ads with every psychological trigger they learned from some 2014 sales letter template.

(Side note: if your ad copy template has the phrase “imagine yourself” in it, delete it immediately lol.)

And technically? Those ads might convert people you’re pushing to buy, but here’s the thing – it’s better to attract people who already want to buy.

Big difference.

MOST long-form ads exist to engineer urgency in people who don’t even realize they have a problem yet. You’re literally creating the problem so you can sell the solution.

Read that again.

You’re inventing problems for people who wouldn’t naturally see value in what you’re offering.

That feels scammy to me.

I know plenty of marketers who do this bc they’re pushing SHIT products (not amazing ones like this).

And bc of that they have to build up this entire story just to make the sale.

Look, don’t get me wrong.

I care about money too… I don’t work for free.

But I care more about creating a really good product that people actually want.

The truth is if you have a great product, simple marketing works.

It’s like food. Quality food speaks for itself. But with shitty food, ppl need to add a million things to it so it can taste better.

But I digress…

Back to what I was saying…

So yea, if you’re on a small budget, you’re paying to show 500 words to someone who stops reading at word 12.

Here’s exactly what’s happening

Facebook charges you per impression. Every time your ad shows up, you’re paying.

Doesn’t matter if someone reads the whole thing or scrolls past after half a second.

You paid for that impression.

So when you write a long ad, you’re pretty much paying full price to show your entire sales pitch to people who bounced before they even see your offer.

That’s not a strategy. That’s financial suicide.

Let’s say you’re spending $50 a day. With long ads, maybe 30% of people who see your ad actually engage long enough to understand what you’re selling.

That means $35 of your daily budget just got flushed down the toilet showing content to people who didn’t care.

Now compare that to the short ads I showed you earlier.

✅ Hook immediately.

✅ State the offer clearly.

✅ Include the price so there’s zero confusion.

✅ Drop the link.

When someone sees those ads, they know within 3 seconds if they’re interested or not. No wasted impressions on people who were never going to buy anyway. Your budget only goes to people who actually engaged.

And here’s what’s wild. The conversion rates stay STRONG and…

People will buy MORE from you

results shorter ads 1

Why?

Because you’re not tricking anyone.

You’re not manipulating them into clicking with some elaborate psychological sequence. You’re just being direct about what you’re selling and what it costs.

And people respect that A LOT more than you might think.

When you do this right, a few things change fast.

✅ Your cost per click drops because people are engaging quickly instead of scrolling past 400 words…

✅ Your conversion rate holds because everyone who clicked knew exactly what they were getting into…

✅ And you bc ppl trust that you’re straight to point, they’ll buy MORE stuff from you

Pretty damn cool.

The framework is stupid simple

👉 Lead with the outcome or a curiosity spike.

👉 State what you’re selling.

👉 Include the price.

👉 Add the link.

✅ Done.

Just respect people’s time and get to the point.

Your small budget and conversions will thank you.
